In 2012, Ambo´s Social Services contacted us to tell us about a dramatic situation they were facing.

There was a 10 year-old child with his hands and other parts of his body serverely burnt. As soon as we heard about it we got to work. The medical evaluation said that his hands could be recovered through immediate surgery, so we contacted several Spanish associations that did surgery in Africa and we found “Asociación Abay”. Together we co-funded Kebede´s surgery, who, one year and several surgeries after, recovered his hands.

This project as well as many others, are emerging situations that we find in the country and that we try to solve even though they are not originally projected by “Voluntarios por África”.
